Fruit Salad

stories-single-blob

Looking for a healthy snack but worried about having too much potassium?

Fruit salads are a great way of having a low-calorie sweet treat, but you need to pick the lower-potassium fruits. Pick a handful (80g) of 2 of the following fruits to make a tasty treat. My favourite combination is Nectarine and Raspberries, yum!

  • Blackberry
  • Nectarine
  • Raspberry
  • Apple
  • Clementine/Satsuma/Tangerine
  • Peach
  • Strawberries
  • Cherries
  • Fruit cocktail (canned)
  • Mandarins (canned)

NB If you are following a low potassium diet, this would take up 2 of the 4 fruit and vegetable portions you can have each day. Not everyone needs to restrict their potassium intake, please ask a member of the Renal Team if you need to know more.
