York Haemodialysis Units

Overview

The dialysis units run by York Hospital aim to offer shared haemodialysis care and work with patients to promote independence around treatment. They are located in York, Easingwold, Harrogate, Selby, and Scarborough: please see below. 

All dialysis units are supported by a multi-disciplinary renal team comprising of specialist dieticians, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists, an art worker and renal technicians who work with the renal physicians and specialist nurses. 

York district hospital has its own dedicated ward for kidney patients known as Ward 33.

York Hospital Main Renal Unit

This is the main dialysis unit located in York Hospital hospital. It has 13 haemodialysis spaces, each comprising of a dialysis machine, bed or chair and TV. Co-located within it is also the York Shared Care Haemodialysis Unit, a 4-station minimal self-care unit, which offers self-care/shared haemodialysis care. In addition, there is also a four-station acute dialysis unit on the 2nd floor of the hospital which provides dialysis treatment for in-patients.
