Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is commissioned by NHS England to manage established renal failure over a population of 1.6m living in Lancashire and South Cumbria.  Services provided at LTHTR includes outpatient, inpatient, pre-dialysis, peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis.   

Renal services are delivered on a hub and spoke model with Preston being the main renal unit, providing acute and chronic dialysis with our satellite centre, the spokes. Our satellite centres provide haemodialysis in Chorley, Burnley, Blackburn, Ulverston, Kendal and Blackpool for patients with kidney disease. 

 

The service also provides lifelong care for over 750 kidney transplant patients and those with reduced or abnormal kidney function at outpatient clinics across East Lancashire, Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre, Morecambe Bay and Central Lancashire.
