GMKIN is the collaboration between patients with Kidney Disease, their carers, and those providing the necessary supporting health care across Greater Manchester.
In Greater Manchester the provision of Kidney Care is shared between two large hospital trusts, Northern Care Alliance (NCA) and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).
Northern Care Alliance (NCA) provides renal care to people living in the West sector of the city (such as Salford, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury), and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) provides care to those in the East sector (such as North Manchester, central Manchester, Wythenshawe, Withington, Trafford, Altrincham). We suggest you check which trust covers your renal care, as this will help you better navigate our resources.

“Living with kidney disease is hard. I have great family support but sometimes that isn’t enough.Through GMKIN I’ve been able to meet people who really understand. In a way it has become a second family to me, if I’m struggling I know there are people I can reach out to who have been where I am. Your medical team might give you the best medical advice but when it comes to living with kidney disease, you can’t beat speaking to other kidney patients.”
